The challenge

The carbon credit market has grown rapidly, but a lack of transparency and traceability has eroded buyer confidence. Cawa, based in the Netherlands, identified this opportunity: building a marketplace where every carbon removal credit can be tracked end to end, backed by verifiable data and scientifically validated methods. The challenge was to create a platform that simplifies a complex process — from selecting removal methods to generating ESG reports — without compromising on rigour or transparency.

Our solution

We developed the complete frontend and backend of the Cawa platform, combining React for an intuitive interface and Node.js for a robust backend capable of managing complex carbon credit data in real time.

The platform connects with an ecosystem of verification and sustainability partners, including Isometric, Ecochain, Runa and Eevery, ensuring every credit meets the most demanding industry standards.

Results

The platform enables European businesses to access quality carbon credits with full transparency. Companies using Cawa reduce up to 85% of waste in their offsetting budgets, thanks to intelligent credit selection and the removal of unnecessary intermediaries. The public API, launched in September 2023, has allowed clients to integrate carbon offsetting automatically into their workflows.
